Motorcyclist found dead, Coleshill
Police in North Warwickshire were called to Castle Lane, Maxstoke, Coleshill at 1pm on Saturday 18 September following reports that a motorcycle and the body of a male motorcyclist had been discovered at the roadside. The motorbike and the man's body were inside a hedgerow and could not bee seen from the road.
The discovery was made by a man riding past the scene on a pedal cycle.
It is thought the motorcycle was involved in a single vehicle collision at the location and that the man's body had been there for ten days.
The motorcycle, a blue and white Kawasaki ZX 6000, was registered to a man from the West Midlands area. Checks with West Midlands Police revealed a missing person report had been made by the family of the motorcyclist after he had not been seen since Wednesday 8 September when he went out for a rid on his motorcycle.
He is in his mid 40s and comes from the Kitts Green area of Birmingham. His identity is not being released as formal identification has not yet been completed.
Castle Lane was closed to traffic on Saturday afternoon for accident investigators to attend the scene and for recovery of the motorcycle.
At this stage police believe the motorcycle was the only vehicle involved in the collision, however they are appealing for anyone who may travelled along Castle Lane at Maxstoke on Wednesday September 8 to recall whether they saw anything unusual, or if they saw a blue and white Kawasaki travelling along the road, or witnessed the incident in which the motorcycle left the road. The rider was wearing black leather boots and black motorcycle leathers and was wearing a black and grey helmet.
Anyone with any information is asked to contact Sergeant Adrian davis at Greys Mallory Traffic base on 01926 415000.
