Former Police Inspector and Member of the Great Britain Shooting Team Helps Raise Funds For Crimestoppers

Bob Kibblewhite, a retired Warwickshire Police Inspector and member of the Great Britain Shooting Team, joined forces with a former colleague at the weekend to help raise funds for Crimestoppers and promote the safe, legal and enjoyable use of guns .

Bob alongside Martin Bartlett, a retired Superintendent and current Chair of Warwickshire Crimestoppers, helped organise a clay pigeon shoot at Wedgnock Shooting Range at Warwick on Sunday.

One hundred and eight competitors from shooting clubs around the area, vied to compete to win four classes, juniors, ladies, veterans and the overall winner.

Competitors shot at sixty targets within the English sporting category including targets simulating Teals ducks that fly straight upwards, pheasants that fly much higher and ground based rabbits.

The overall winner was local man, Jez Pinfold who recorded an impressive 54 out of 60. He collected £100 cash prize alongside the three other winners, junior winner - local Richard Pearce with 46 hits, Sandra Languish from Birmingham with 38 out of 60 and a further local man who won the veterans class with 38 hits.

Over £500 was raised for Crimestoppers, helped by the sponsorship of Adventure Sports Ltd who provided the site, members of the public who donated over twenty raffle prizes and 16 volunteer referees who confirmed successful hits. Further support came from the Rugby and District Trap Club, Guns and Sports of Stratford and The Gun Shop at Rugby, who all donated prizes.

Special thanks went to two young ladies aged 11 and 7, who ran a very successful raffle, raising £90.

Bob Kibblewhite has a further success to celebrate as he has just become a member of the Great Britain Shooting Team. He is due to compete in both the European and World Championships next year.
