Warwickshire and West Midlands Police arrest seven men for conspiracy to rob

During a joint operation between Warwickshire Police and West Midlands Police, officers from both forces visited addresses in the West Midlands and in Warwickshire early yesterday morning, to arrest several men wanted for conspiracy to rob.

Seven men - aged between 21 and 30 - were arrested at houses in the Wood End area of Coventry and taken to Chase Avenue Police Station or to Stoney Stanton Police Station - both in Coventry. During the operation many items were recovered including computer games, dvds, motorcycles and cash.

All seven men were questioned by officers from both Forces and have been bailed to reappear at the Police stations on January 20 2005. One man is appearing at Coventry Magistrates Court today on a warrant, for failure to attend court on a burglary charge.

DCI Ken Lawrence would like to remind the public that a large reward has been offered by Sainsburys supermarket for information to help Police. He said:

"Although we have successfully arrested seven men for conspiracy to rob, both ourselves and West Midlands police continue to investigate a series of robberies at supermarkets, and supermarket petrol stations. It is still very important that members of the public who have information to help Police call the Investigation Unit on 01926 415000 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111. I would like to remind these people that Sainsburys has offered a reward of several thousand pounds and I would encourage people with information to call in."
