Robbery at Barclays Bank, Kenilworth.
Detectives investigating a robbery at Barclays bank in Kenilworth believe the crime was meticulously planned.
The bank was robbed at 16 45 yesterday afternoon November 15 when four offenders entered the bank through the rear of the building, ordered staff to lie on the floor and took money from the safe. It's now known that £95,500 cash was stolen. There had been a delivery of cash to the bank earlier that day.
Detective Inspector Bob Bradbury believes the offenders had visited the bank on previous occasions and were aware of cash delivery times.
He is appealing for witnesses to suspicious activity at the front of the bank when security vans have delivered cash. He also wants to hear from anyone who saw men acting suspiciously at the rear of the bank yesterday afternoon or any sightings of men taking a wooden pallet from the yard at the back of Iceland.
The men were wearing dark clothing and motorcycle helmets. They escaped on two motorcycles that sped off out of Kenilworth in the direction of Dale House Lane and the A46.
Detectives want to speak to any motorists or pedestrians who could describe the motorcycles and who witnessed their direction of travel.
DI Bradbury said: "This was undoubtedly a well planned robbery and the offenders must have visited the premises on previous occasions as part of the planning process.
"We want to speak to anyone who may have seen anyone looking out of place or suspicious when security vans arrive to deliver cash to the bank. Witnesses saw the men or the motorcycles at the rear of the bank yesterday may also have valuable information to assist the inquiry."
DI Bradbury stressed that a reward is on offer through CRIMESTOPPERS for anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and charge of offenders. Information can be left on the anonymous freephone CRIMESTOPPERS line on 0800 555 111.
