New Voicebank System for the Media

Due to the withdrawal of the old Voicebank system by the service provider, Warwickshire Police is launching a new Media Line service with immediate effect.

From today (30 December 2004) information on serious incidents which is released when the Press Office is closed (overnight, weekends and bank holidays) can be accessed by dialling a single number - 01926 415028.

Because most of the force's press briefings are sent out by email, this number will be used for ALL areas of the county, instead of the current system with three different numbers for the North, the South and Rugby.

Reporters dialling in to 01926 415028 will first hear a greeting and details of how to be included on the force's email briefing list. It is possible to skip this greeting by pressing the star key (*) during the announcement.

Information on incidents follows the greeting, with the most recent information recorded being played first. It is important not to press the star key or any other keys during this part of the recording, as this will cut the caller off.

Currently the system does not have the functionality to skip or repeat messages, but the force is hoping that the new service providers will be able to add this in the future.
