Police investigating the death of a cyclist in a non-stop road traffic collision in the early hours of this morning (10 May 2005) have arrested a man.
The cyclist is believed to have been struck from the rear by a medium or large van as he was riding towards Alcester. He died at the scene. Although we are not able to formally identify the man at this stage, he is believed to be a local man in his 20s.
This morning, a 60-year-old man from Leicester went into Beaumont Leys Police Station, Leicester to report an incident, having returned to his work depot with a vehicle in a damaged condition. Two Warwickshire detectives have travelled to Beaumont Leys Police Station and have arrested the man on suspicion of manslaughter. He is currently in custody awaiting interview.
