Update: Victim named in Nuneaton Murder Enquiry

Following the formal identification of the man who died following an altercation in Edinburgh Road, Camphill, Nuneaton police can now confirm the man who died is 31 year old Alan Fessey who lived in the Bucks Hill area of Nuneaton. Mr Fessey was married with two children.

A post mortem examination on Mr Fessey is being carried out this afternoon.

Police are still appealing for witnesses to the incident in Edinburgh Road, Camphill, Nuneaton yesterday evening (Friday 1 July) which started at shortly before 7.15pm following reports of damage to a parked car in nearby Ludford Road.

During the altercation which followed Mr Fessey sustained a head injury and fell to the floor. He was taken to the George Eliot Hospital but was declared dead approximately an hour later.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident and have launched a murder enquiry.

Detective Inspector Nigel Jones said, "This incident happened during day light hours on a summer evening and we know there were a number of young people and adults in the area at the time.

"The incident would have attracted their attention. We are appealing for anyone who has not already spoken to the police to contact us. We particulary urge any of the young people in the area to come forward to speak to us and can assure them and their parents that interviews will be carried out by specially trained officers."

Two males, aged 15 years and 49 years who were arrested nearby shortly afterwards remain in police custody this afternoon where they are being questioned in connection with the murder enquiry.
