Specials welcome new Chief Officer

Special Chief Officer Glyn Gardner After almost 35 years as a special, Deputy Chief Officer Glyn Gardner has been appointed as the specials new Chief Officer.

Glyn, said "I've been Acting Chief Officer for the specials since Brian Pask retired at the end of March and I'm delighted now to have been confirmed in post.

Glyn said "I've always enjoyed working in the police environment. Since retiring from East Midlands Electricity in 2001, as well as working as a special, I've been working part time for the police on projects and most recently as a part time property officer in Stratford for three days a week."

"As Chief Officer, I'm really looking forward to encouraging more people to volunteer to become specials. Another key aim will be to get as many Specials as possible involved in neighbourhood policing."

Glyn first joined Warwickshire as a special in October 1970 and will have given 35 years service by October this year.

He said

"After four years in Leamington, I was promoted to Special Sergeant, and then became Special Inspector at Warwick in Aug 1979. The rank changed and in March 1984, I became Subdivisional Commandant for the Warwick area covering Warwick, Kenilworth and Leamington.

"Fifteen years ago, when Brian Pask became Chief Officer, I was appointed as his deputy and we worked well together as a team for many years.

Glyn has lived with his wife in Warwick for the last 25 years and has a son and daughter.

In his spare time Glyn enjoys a round of golf.
