Help tag graffiti offenders - who did these?
Police have launched a new initiative to crack down on offenders that blight our communities with graffiti. They will be highlighting recurring incidents of graffiti and seeking help from the public to identify those responsible. By publishing photographs of graffiti, police hope that people will come forward - either to the police themselves or by calling Crimestoppers anonymously - to identify offenders whose graffiti ("tag") they recognise from the photos.
Members of the public with information are asked to telephone PC Dave Valente at Leamington Police Station on 01926 451111 or to call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. Crimestoppers is not just concerned with major crime. It is there for people to anonymously report matters that affect them in their own neighbourhood, including nuisance youth behaviour and criminal damage such as graffiti.
PC Valente said:
"By repeatedly creating their own distinctive graffiti or "tags", offenders want other people to know who did it. If you know who is responsible for any of these images or know anyone else who does graffiti, then please let us know. If you don't want to phone the police, phone Crimestoppers. Calls to Crimestoppers are free and are completely anonymous. Callers are never asked for their details, calls are not recorded or traced and no record is kept of the caller's gender or dialect. Therefore they will not have to give evidence to the police or in court. It is Crimestoppers week from 19 to 25 September, so come on, make a difference - help put an end to graffiti, which does nothing but disfigure our neighbourhoods, including your own neighbourhood. And remember that there may be a reward for information given to Crimestoppers."
