Rugby Police Pedal Crime Prevention Message

Rugby Police will be taking the message of cycle security out onto the streets next week.

Working in partnership with the Rugby Borough Council's "In Town Without My Car" day, the mobile police station will be parked at the front of the Town Hall from 10.30 am until 3pm on Thursday 22 September

Crime reduction officers will be in attendance to give professional advice on all aspects of crime prevention however, the main thrust of the day will be to security mark as many pedal cycles as possible. Crime reduction officer PC Neill MacKenzie said, "Every year hundreds of stolen pedal cycles are recovered by the police which they are unable to return to their rightful owners because the cycle cannot be identified. This is the perfect opportunity for all owners of pedal cycles in Rugby to have their cycle coded."

The marking is carried out by writing the owners post-code onto a tamper resistant sticker, which is then applied to the cycle. But don't worry if you can't bring your cycle to the show, the stickers can be prepared onsite so that they can be applied to the cycle when the owner gets home.
