Couple Beaten In Serious Assault, Nuneaton

Police in Nuneaton are appealing for witnesses to an incident in which a 20 year old man and a 17 year old female were badly beaten as they returned home from a night out on Saturday 17 June.

The couple had just alighted from a taxi at the Marston Lane end of Donnithorne Avenue in Nuneaton at approximately 10.45pm on Saturday when an argument started with three females who were standing on the opposite side of the road.

Events escalated and the three females crossed the road and the couple were attacked. Three males also joined in the attack which left the 20 year old man with a broken nose and head injuries and the 17 year old female received a severe thump to the head which rendered her unconscious for a short while.

They were both taken to the George Eliot Hospital where they were both detained overnight.

No descriptions of the attackers are available at this time with the exception that one of the males is believed to have been wearing a Celtic shirt.

It is believed that a man standing at his garden gate further along Donnithorne Avenue may have witnessed the attack and police ask him to come forward as he may have valuable information.
