Theft of Diesel, Rugby
Police are appealing for witnesses to the theft of a quantity of diesel from the forecourt of the Total Garage on Hillmorton Road, Rugby yesterday morning (Tuesday 20 June) at shortly before mid day.
Staff at the garage became suspicious of two white males with a red Vauxhall Vectra car and went out to speak to them. The motorist was filling up a number of fuel cans.
The garage staff managed to grab the keys to the car but a struggle ensued and the motorist grabbed the keys back and the two men drove away, almost colliding with the member of the garage staff. Fuel valued at fifty pounds was taken.
In a second incident at approximately 11.45am a further quantity of fuel was stolen from the same garage when a motorist driving a white Landrover visited the garage. Diesel to the value of 135 pounds was taken from the pump, with almost 100 pounds of that spilling onto the forecourt.
Police would like to hear from anyone who saw a red Vauxhall Vectra or a white Landrover being filled up with fuel, or filling fuel cans in the Rugby area.
It is believed both vehicles were displaying false number plates made of paper.
Anyone with any information is asked to contact PC Calum McNaughton at Rugby Police Station on 01788 541111 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
