UPDATE Inc 308 Sunday 17 september, Serious Sexual assault, Bedworth

Police investigating the sexual assault of a 29 year old woman on land adjoining Royal Oak Lane, Bedworth at approximately 10pm on Saturday evening 16 September, have issued an artists impression of the man they wish to trace.

The man is described as being of Asian appearance, aged in his early to mid 20s, 5ft 6 inches - 5ft 9inches tall, of slim to medium build and short dark hair. He was wearing a blue or black sweatshirt and black jeans.

The attack took place as the woman was walking along Royal Oak Lane in the direction of the town centre at shortly after 10pm on the Saturday evening. As she reached a point between Newlands Lane and the Royal Oak public house she saw a man stop his car and get out of his vehicle.

The woman ran into adjoining fields followed by the man who sexually assaulted her. Afterwards the man ran back to his car and drove off at speed.

Police are keen to trace what is described as an old style red Vauxhaul Astra car which was seen driving along Royal Oak Lane shortly after the incident and also a small white vehicle which is believed to have been on Royal Oak Lane at around the time of the incident.

They are also keen to identify an Asian appearance man who was in the Royal Oak public house between 7pm - 8pm on the evening of Saturday 16 September.

Anyone who was in the Royal Oak public house on the evening of Saturday 16 September who has not already spoken to the police, anyone who believes they were a witness to the incident, was in the area at the time or knows the identity of the attacker should contact Bedworth CID on 02476 643111 x 3446 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111 where the information can be given anonymously.
