Police are appealing for information after a man entered the home of an elderly Nuneaton woman and stole more than £200 from her handbag.

The incident took place at the home of the 82 year old woman, who is partially sighted, in Brookdale Road, Nuneaton at approximately 1.30pm on Wednesday 17 January.

A family relative arrived at the woman's home to find the front door open. She entered the house and heard noises upstairs. On going to investigate the woman relative found a man in the bedroom of the house. He dashed past her and down the stairs as she entered the bedroom. He ran off in the direction of Shanklin Drive.

It was later discovered that a handbag containing more than £200 was missing from the bedroom.

The burglar is described as being white male, aged between 17 - 18 years, 5ft 7inches tall of slim build with stubble on his chin and noticeable acne on his face.

He was wearing a dark coloured sweat shirt top and dark navy jeans.

Police are appealing for anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in the area during the morning, or anyone who recognises the description.

They wouod particularly like to trace two people who walked past the house in Brookdale Road at around 1.30pm and who may have seen the male running away.
