Thief uses stolen cash card to withdraw £3000, Bedworth
Inc 153 Monday 12 February Stolen Cash card Used To Purchase Goods, Bedworth
Police are again warning shoppers to make sure they take care of their purse and wallets after a woman shopping in Bedworth on Saturday (10 February) discovered her purse had been stolen.
The woman did not realise until Sunday that the purse, which she had been carrying in her shopping bag, was missing. It had contained approximately £24 in cash plus her bank debit card.
The woman later discovered from her bank that her debit card had since been used to withdraw cash and purchase items to the value of £3000.
Police remind shoppers that they should always keep their purse or wallet safe. Carry it in an inside pocket pocket or tucked deep down inside a handbag with the fastening on the bag closed and carried close to your body - not on a long shoulder strap where the bag can be pulled away from you. If you discover your bank cards have been stolen contact your bank immediately to cancel the cards.
