Fatal traffic collision M6 Motorway

At 0500hrs on Saturday 29 October 2005 a collision occurred on the M6 Motorway between junction 1 and 2, on the Northbound carriageway.

Involved were a Blue Iveco Ford box van and a white Iveco Ford Articulated lorry

As a result of the collision, two males from the Blue Box van believed to be from The Greater Manchester Area sustained serious injuries. As a result of these injuries one of the males was certified dead at hospital, the second male is undergoing treatment at a local hospital where his injuries are critical.

Officers from the Central Motorway Police Group (CMPG), supported by specialist officers from Warwickshire Police are investigating the collision.

As a result of the collision the Motorway remains closed at this time and it is anticipated that the northbound carriageway will remain closed until lunch time today, it is hoped that restricted running will resume shortly on the southbound carriageway.
