New Police Warning over Bogus Callers
Leamington Police issued a further warning about bogus callers after a man claiming to be investigating stolen pension books called at the home of an elderly woman.
At around 15 30 on the afternoon of Monday September 13, a man visited an 82 year old woman living in sheltered flat at Chandos Court.
He asked her where her pension book was, telling her that a man had been caught downstairs with stolen pension books and cash.
The woman told him she had no cash and knew her pension book had not been taken.
The man left and was challenged outside by the warden who asked him what he was doing. He told her he was “making sure no cash had been taken”.
The man walked off. He is described as white male, aged 20 – 22 slim athletic build, short dark hair, brown eyes wearing a thin dark grey or blue crew neck top, dark trousers.
Nothing believed to have been stolen.
Police enquiries are continuing to establish if the man visited any other flats. Anyone with information is asked to call CRIMESTOPPERS on 0800 555 111. The Burglary Squad at Leamington Spa are investigating
