Royal approval for Justice Centre

HRH The Princess Royal visited the Warwickshire Justice Centre in Nuneaton on 10th March to formally open the centre, which is the first of its kind in the country delivering local joined-up justice.

The Princess visited each of the justice agencies’ business areas, including the offices of Victim Support – the charity of which she is patron. The Princess met members of staff working in the centre and stopped to speak to many people on her tour round the building.

In her speech given prior to the unveiling of the plaque the Princess said: “This Justice Centre is a unique development, but I hope it will remain unique only for a short time. It is a pleasure to have been able to meet some of those involved in the project which is an example I hope many other areas will follow.”

During her visit the Princess also met local dignitaries, residents, students, a local victim of crime, magistrates, the design team, national agency representatives and former executives. More than eighty people attended the reception and official opening.

Chief Constable John Burbeck commented: “I’m very pleased indeed that the Princess gave up her time to visit our unique Justice Centre today. Through her work with Victim Support she has a good understanding of what an effective criminal justice system should deliver. I think she was impressed with what she saw.”
